The ‘place de Clichy’ is located in the Northwestern part of Paris. It is situated on the former fence of Clichy which was defended in 1814 by the disabled persons and the National Guard, commanded by the marshal Moncey, against the Russians. A monument dedicated to the marshal Moncey is standing in the middle of the square.
The 'Place de Clichy' is a real meeting place, famous for its renowned breweries and for its cinemas. The gastronomes can enjoy fishes and seafood, cut on the pavement by the oystermen. The cinema enthusiasts have plenty of choice, between a big comfortable complex and the avant-garde theaters with a more eclectic programming. Music stores can be found next to cafes and cabarets and you can walk a little further in the Montmartre Cemetery, one of the most beautiful cemeteries of Paris.
